I was in the Berkshires for a wedding a few weeks ago, and I ended up staying at the cutest place. The Briarcliff Motel in Great Barrington is a breath of fresh air. The owners, Richard and Clare, took a 1960s motel and renovated it into something stylish and modern with just the right dose of Berkshires coziness. A modern stone firepit greets you when you drive in, and there’s excellent coffee, scones, and homemade granola for breakfast. Richard and Clare also offer suggestions for what to do in the area. We hiked Monument Mountain, conveniently right across the street, and also walked the trail through Ice Glen in Stockbridge, which was the prettiest little hike teeming with ferns.
